How is Jesus the Hero of Your Story Today?

How is Jesus making a difference in your life right now? How are you experiencing him as Saviour right now in your friendships, work, parenting, marriage, struggles or fears? Can you pick one way in which Jesus is rescuing you, comforting you, transforming you, or guiding you and share it with us? What has he done for your soul today?

“Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul.”
Psalm 66:16

Commend Jesus With Us

We want to begin collecting quick testimonials commending the work of Jesus in our lives to share with the diocese and the world. We believe these could be a huge encouragement to others, and inspire one another in how we can start Jesus conversations naturally and regularly with people in our lives.

Your short story can be about big or small things. In fact sometimes noticing Jesus working in the small things can encourage even more people than that exceptionally dramatic story.

They don’t need to include the entire Biblical story or even a complete gospel presentation from start to finish. (We will link them to more information about Christianity and the Gospel.)
These little testimonials are intended to commend the goodness and sufficiency of Jesus and invite others to “taste and see that the Lord is good.” (Ps 34:8)

Let’s start more Jesus conversations. Let’s grow in expressing just how alive, present, sufficient and glorious is the Lord Jesus.

Preparing Your Story

Theme

As you consider what you might share in your video we’d suggest you think of one element in your life where Jesus is saving/helping/transforming you. Consider what knowing him and what he’s done is doing in your life. Here are some ideas:

Jesus is giving me or producing in me:

    • Comfort, Forgiveness, Encouragement, Meaning, Purpose, Compassion, Kindness, Patience, Joy, Peace, Self Control…

Outline

Once you’ve chosen your theme consider the outline of your message. We’d recommend this basic format:

    1. Describe your situation and struggle as it relates to your theme. (i.e. lack of patience with your kids, resentment towards your boss, worry about finances, sense of purposelessness, etc.)

    2. Explain how Jesus is helping you and saving you. How is knowing Jesus making a difference in that part of your life?

    3. End with inviting others to learn more about Jesus and experience him for themselves.

Recording Your Video

If you’re willing, would you record a brief video testimony and send it to us! If you don’t know much about how to take a video yourself maybe you have a family member or friend who could help.

Please try to keep the videos between 1-5 minutes in length (that’s usually 650 words or less if you’re writing it out). Remember we’re looking for a short story about one way Jesus is working in your life, not your whole life story (as wonderful as it might be!).

Tips

  1. It doesn’t have to be exceptionally dramatic

  2. Keep it brief and simple (5min/650words max)

  3. Write it out and just read it if you need to. (There are some easy teleprompter apps for phones and tablets)

  4. Make sure Jesus is the focus and the hero

To send us your video please fill in the form below and then select “Next”. You’ll be forwarded to the page where you can select and upload your video. Thank you so much for sharing your Jesus story.

Please be aware that by uploading your video below you are granting us permission to share it on our website, social media and/or via other communication platforms. We may follow up with you via email if we have any questions and to let you know if we publish your video.

1 Peter 3:15

“I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.”
Psalm 9:1

“Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” John 4:39

“He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.” John 9:11

“And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.”
