One of our central values as a diocese is having equipped and supported clergy who are qualified and cared for and well prepared for ministry.

One of the ways we are seeking to pursue this value is by helping provide young clergy opportunities to minister in well established parishes as curates under a more senior clergy member who is able to act as an instructor and mentor. We’re calling this initiative our Curacy Program.

As a curate a young clergy person can gain real ministry experienced within a congregation, and receive guidance and oversight, while providing that congregation with added leadership and service.

Applications & Structure

Curate’s funding breakdown

Curates accepted into the program receive one third of their salary from the diocese, one third from the parish and are asked to raise one third themselves through supporters.

Parishes accepted into the program will have an experienced rector who is prepared and equipped for mentoring, along with a congregation able to support the curate and provide sufficient opportunities for ministry.

Both parish and curate applications will be evaluated by our Curacy Program Committee. For more information about how to apply contact us: admin@anglicannetwork.ca

Funding

To have young clergy well trained and prepared for ministry in our diocese is a vital need and a wonderful blessing. But to grow the Curacy Program we need donations to fund it, in particular regular monthly giving. The more financial support we receive the more curates we will be able to accept and support.

Please consider giving to our Multiply for Mission fund which funds our Curacy Program, as well as church planting initiatives and theological education through Packer College. You can give here:
