Statement regarding the arrest of the spouse of a
clergy member
... pdf version

2 June 2010

Hamilton, ON – We were deeply distressed to learn that earlier today, the husband of one of our clergy members was arrested in Hamilton on charges of sexual abuse. Although we have few details, to the best of our knowledge, the alleged incidents do not involve any parishioners, but occurred outside of the church context.

We are cooperating fully with the police investigation. We are also doing all we can to support St Peter parishioners who are devastated by this news as well as to care for our clergy member who is understandably distraught.

We want to express our deep concern and prayer for all those involved, particularly the victims of the alleged assaults.

The church of St Peter will be open all day Thursday, June 3, for parishioners and community members to come for pastoral care and prayer.
